How to convert miles to dollars
A miles to dollars calculator turns driven miles into a money amount by multiplying the eligible miles by a rate per mile. You can use it for work mileage reimbursement, freelance travel fees, delivery pay, client visit costs, charity driving, medical trips, or personal trip budgeting.
Round trip: Reimbursable miles = One-way miles ร 2 โ Deducted miles
Estimated net: Net = Total dollars โ Fuel cost โ Other driving cost
Example
If you drove 120 business miles at $0.725 per mile and paid $18 for tolls and parking, your mileage value would be 120 ร 0.725 = $87.00. After adding $18, the total claim would be $105.00.
Tip: Use the custom rate field if your employer, client, or country uses a different mileage rate. The presets are only quick starting points.
What extra costs should you include?
- Tolls and parking: Add them if they are reimbursable or part of the trip cost.
- Fuel: Use fuel price and MPG to estimate how much gas the trip used.
- Wear and maintenance: Use the other cost per mile field for tires, oil, depreciation, and repairs.
- Commute deduction: Deduct normal commute miles if your workplace or tax rule requires it.
